Interesting to see how eye-witnesses can differ about the same event: Did Hitler fire the shot into the ceiling, or his companion? — David Irving diary |

Worked all morning on Göring drafting, then cycled to Elephant [“White Elephant Court”, i.e. No.23 Clifton Court, NW8] and typed final chapter on 1923 Putsch, etc. Taking shape nicely, but I returned at 7:30 p.m. and began reading T84 rolls 1 and 2, the transcript of the Hitler Trial from the Munich Amtsgericht files. Interesting material, and I shall revise the chapter immediately in some places. Good eye-witness material on “Hauptmann Göhring.” […] Read the 1924 Hitler Trial microfilm until 1 a.m., then bed.

A good start to the chapter on Göring’s drug addiction. […] I continued reading Hitler Trial. More good material. Until 1 a.m., then bed.

August 30, 1985 (Friday)
London
Worked all afternoon at White Elephant on Göring. Slowing down slightly in approach to Machtergreifung. Also I am ploughing through the Hitler Trial 1924 every evening. Interesting to see how eye-witnesses can differ about the same event: Did Hitler fire the shot into the ceiling, or his companion? They are emphatic both ways.
As I switched off the microfilm reader at midnight, P. came.
