Lipstadt’s new book already being sold for scrap value
- Title: HISTORY ON TRIAL
- Author: DEBORAH LIPSTADT
- Format: Hardback
IN AN Austrian court, the discredited historian David Irving was found guilty of the crime of denying the Holocaust in Austria [Website comment: No he wasn’t], and while awaiting his sentence admitted that the Holocaust did indeed occur, and his works of denial were fabricated [Website comment: No he didn’t]. This is the story of one of the earlier court cases involving Irving, in which Deborah Lipstadt‘s quiet existence as a professor at an American university was turned upside down as she became the centre of a sensational libel case. In her 1993 book “Denying the Holocaust” she described Irving as one of the most dangerous spokespersons of the denial movement. Irving sued for libel, and the spotlight fell on her, and, by extension, the entire historiography of the Holocaust. Six years later her victory was front page news across the world, but the trial’s implications were far from over. 346pp, 8 pages of photos.
