Hitler Himmler others43snowHeinrich Himmler with Hitler and others walk to the teahouse in snow at the Berghof, Spring 1943. Hermann Fegelein (shot in April 1945 on Hitler’s orders) is the officer with shades and stick walking behind him. The hatless officer next to Fegelein is Fritz Darges (Hitler’s SS-Adjutant until July 1944). One of the men right at the rear is Josef Kiermayer.

The photos may well have been taken during Himmler’s March 30, 1943 visit to the Berghof. See David Irving, Hitler’s War (1977 The Viking Press, NY, edition), on pages 502-503. Reader Douglas Dery points out, “Indeed the picture of the two men strolling to the teahouse in the snow would seem to correspond to the event where you wrote ‘…their two-hour mountain stroll on March 30 — Hitler wearing a soft peaked cap to shade his eyes against the Alpine glare.'” (p 503)
