ONE of the famous BJ’s or “Black Jumbos”, an illustration from David Irving, Churchilląs War, vol. ii. The Japanese government orders its embassies in enemy capitals to destroy code materials; a message decoded by the British on the eve of Pearl Harbor. Mr Irving has made extensive analysis of these for this work on the wartime British prime minister, appearing later this year. See especially chapters 10, 11 and 12. [Free download page]
