The Holocaust as kitschGABRIEL SCHOENFELD
[Lawyers for The New York Times have asked us to remove the article (original URL above) which was originally posted here, deeply critical of the commercialisation of the Holocaust by bodies like the Los Angeles-based Simon Wiesenthal Center and Museum of Tolerance (which “promotes itself like a theme park”), and of what Schoenfeld called the “rising culture of victimhood”. Author Schoenfeld concluded: “It is in the interest neither of Jews nor the broader public to turn the Holocaust into grist for the mill of academic trendiness or into a carnival.”]
