Diary columnby Matthew Norman
MANY thanks to Irving for inviting us to “a private reception with his friends” — his what? — “to launch the fully updated Hitler’s War and the War Path. (A free copy of the book is waiting for you).” How very kind. We ring the number listed (nice to know that, despite not having paid his debts from that unfortunate trial, David hasn’t had to leave Belgravia), and tell his Danish partner Bente Hogh that we’d just love to come. But would it be all right to bring a friend who’s come over from the Vienna? “Sure,” says Bente. “That will be fine.” Splendid. His name’s Simon. “Aha.” Simon Wiesenthal. “Yes,” says Bente cheerily, “I think I have heard of him.” Right then. May see you tonight.”

Whole page advert for Hitler’s War, shortly to appear in major UK weekly.
